In 2017, the Karol Szymanowski Music Society celebrates its 40th anniversary. The anniversary concerts of the 20th "Evenings with the Music by Karol Szymanowski" Festival will be held between March 1 and 29 at the Academy of Music in Katowice.

2017 edition of the festival includes 4 chamber concerts and a final concert on March 29 (80th anniversary of the composer’s death), which will be performed by Contento Core and Symphony Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Katowice under the baton of Mirosław J. Błaszczyk.

The Festival was initiated in 1998. Its main objective is presenting Karol Szymanowski's works in a broader context of music composed by his European peers so that some connections and mutual inspirations could be traced. It allows the listeners to compare various compositional techniques and fully understand and appreciate Szymanowski’s individual style.
