The Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław invites you to the next edition of the Festiwal Wyobraźni Muzycznej mYear, which will take place from March 7–9, 2025. The festival has been an opportunity for young musicians – students of music schools and academy students – to develop their passion for analyzing music, participate in competitions, and attend concerts. The registration deadline is February 28 or until all places are filled.
The competition program will feature unconventional music tasks, exercises based on works heard during the concerts, among other things. The Academy will create special spaces for auditory analysis.
A special highlight of this year’s edition will be the premieres of works by Alina Dzięcioł, Jan Przegendza, Łukasz Matuszyk, Laura Papiernik, Filip Pietruszczak, Szymon Wantuła, and a pioneering "sonic action" by Artur Zagajewski
Young musicians who successfully solve the most tasks will receive attractive prizes. However, the most important aspect of the festival is the participation of both students and faculty – it is, after all, a festival of ideas aimed at minimizing the fears associated with music theory subjects.
As the organizers emphasize, "Participants from all over Poland quickly become ambassadors of educational innovations, and teachers eagerly adapt the festival tasks and new methodological concepts to their own classes at music schools. mYear 2025 offers several auditory challenges that cultivate musical imagination, premieres of new compositions, and a wealth of educational surprises connected to sound and creativity."
The artistic director is composer and accordionist Michał Moc.
Rector of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław is the patron of the event.
The partners of the festival are: Polish Music Publishing House and the Contemporary Museum in Wrocław, with financial support from the City of Wrocław.
Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC
