The final concert of this year's "Don't Be Afraid to Improvise!" workshops for young musicians will take place on December 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Concert Hall of the Primary Music School No. 4 at 73 Wiktorska Street in Warsaw. The concert will feature students from the Primary Music School No. 5 in Warsaw, named after, as well as the creators of this cycle, organized by the Polish Society for Contemporary Music. Admission is free!
The workshops offer young musicians an opportunity to develop their musical skills and explore new realms of creativity and talent. The current cycle of workshops was prepared and led by double bassist Małgorzata Kołcz and composer-pianist Jarosław Siwiński. Both have been using their unique educational methods for many years, promoting the idea of teaching improvisation to the youngest, working with children throughout Poland.
During the final concert, the musical youth, who may one day become part of the world of Polish contemporary music, will present the results of their work—new compositions and improvisations that serve as an alternative to the all-encompassing mass culture.
The workshops are part of the program "Creative Warsaw," which is co-financed by the City of Warsaw.
