The National Forum of Music invites you to a concert on May 8, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., marking the conclusion of this year's edition of the NFM Orchestral Academy. The performers will include the participants of the project alongside instrumentalists from the NFM, conducted by the esteemed conductor Jacek Kaspszyk. The soloist will be violinist Roksana Kwaśnikowska.
The evening will open with a violin concerto composed by Mieczysław Karłowicz, whose work symbolically closes the Romantic era. The highlight of the program will be a performance of the piece sometimes referred to as the "Symphony of Fate."
Karłowicz’s Violin Concerto in A major, lyrical, melodic, and cheerful, is at the same time one of the most challenging compositions ever written for the instrument. This has been pointed out both by critics who heard one of its early performances and by contemporary virtuosos.
The evening will conclude with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 in C minor, a quintessential musical embodiment of the dramatic arc per aspera ad astra. This outstanding and innovative work is unified by its distinctive opening motif, which recurs throughout all four movements.
