Ambient for Two Flutes, Organ and Symphony Orchestra by Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil. On June 20, 2025, at 7:00 PM, during the symphony concert at the Polish Baltic Philharmonic in Gdańsk, the world premiere of the latest work by Prof. Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil will take place:
Ambient for two flutes, organ, and symphony orchestra.
The piece will be performed for the first time by the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Mirosław Jacek Błaszczyk. The soloists will be organist Roman Perucki, and flutists Łukasz Długosz and Agata Kielar-Długosz.
Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil wrote the following about her work:
“Contemporary ambient is both the pulsating background of our lives and a holistic experience of the surrounding world of sound. In music, it is primarily associated with multimedia creation generated through electronic instruments. However, ambient can also take shape through traditional acoustic instruments. It can carry both beauty and its negation, juxtaposing the destructive aggressiveness of the industrial world of noise with the harmonious, timeless sounds of nature.
This composition is an attempt to combine these phenomena and to capture their mutual interpenetration. The entire piece takes on a free variation rondo form, in which episodes travel through successive instrumental circles — including the soloists — while the transformed refrain serves as a search for a shared, harmonious sound.”
This project is co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund — a state special-purpose fund — under the "Compositional Commissions" program, administered by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
