First presentation of the interdisciplinary audiovisual project “Abstractum – Relations of Geometry”

Information about the event | Warszawa | 27 November 2025

The first presentation of the interdisciplinary project “Abstractum – Relations of Geometry” will take place on Thursday, 27 November 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mazovian Institute of Culture in Warsaw (12 Elektoralna Street). The project is co-created by visual artists, composers, and choreographers – all university lecturers (at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and the University of Siedlce). The music, performed by pianist Anna Lewicka-Capiga, will be accompanied by colourful visualizations and dance.

The central theme of both the music and the imagery is the broad field of 20th-century geometric abstract art – inspired by works of artists such as Mondrian, El Lissitzky, Sophie Taeuber-Arp, and Frank Stella – and its reflection in the musical and visual arts.

Composers Anna Ignatowicz-Glińska and Aldona Nawrocka have created sound spaces inspired by structural, colouristic, and rhythmic concepts shared by music and the visual arts. The visual layer, created by Paula Jaszczyk, takes the form of a multimedia projection blending echoes of geometry with abstractly interpreted sequences of dancers’ movements.

The choreographic layer, performed by students of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, was created by Agata Pankowska, Aleksandra Dziurosz, and Monika Sojka.

The authors will also pose important questions concerning the nature of art—about the boundaries of abstract art as a form that inspires the discovery of hidden connections. Due to the diverse creative backgrounds of the artists, the work will also contribute to the discussion on synthesis, correspondence, and coexistence among the arts.
