On November 17, 2024, at 12:00 PM, the National Symphony Orchestra of the Polish Radio will be conducted by the Spanish conductor Néstor Bayona, the resident conductor of the Orchestra. The soloist will be the French pianist Lise de la Salle.
Together, they will perform one of the masterpieces of Romantic music – Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1. The pianist has recorded several albums for the Naïve and Deutsche Grammophon labels, including works by Franz Liszt.
The program will also feature Tragic Overture by Andrzej Panufnik and Spirituals for orchestra by Morton Gould. Panufnik composed Tragic Overture during the Nazi occupation of Warsaw: in the dramatic and sound-imitating instrumental parts, one can hear echoes of war. The score miraculously survived the occupation, making it one of those works through which history speaks.
