On November 23, 2025, the Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music will hold a Special Day. On the 92nd anniversary of the birth of the institution’s Patron, visitors to Lusławice will be able to attend both an art exhibition opening and a concert by the Polish Radio Choir.
At 6:00 p.m., the ensemble will perform a cappella choral works from various periods of Penderecki’s career. The composer once said: “For me, the human voice is the most important instrument.” That evening’s program will include Agnus Dei from the Polish Requiem, O gloriosa virginum, Song of the Cherubim, Missa brevis, and Psalm XXX: I Will Exalt You, O Lord from Psalms of David. The concert will be conducted by Maestro Maciej Tworek.
The event will be preceded, at 4:30 p.m., by the opening of the temporary exhibition “Hymn of Love” (III) featuring paintings by Magdalena Miłoś. This is the third installment of the series, prepared especially for the Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music in Lusławice. The title references biblical texts, old Polish hymns, and literary motifs. The works, painted in the rare tempera technique, are inspired by the Wawel tapestries. Their recurring motifs of fauna and flora symbolize the cycle of the four seasons and the cycle of life — birth, death, and rebirth.
The exhibition is organized in cooperation with the Bureau of Artistic Exhibitions in Tarnów.
