Sinfonietta Cracovia will officially launch its new concert season on September 22, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the Cracow Philharmonic. The orchestra will be conducted by Katarzyna Tomala-Jedynak, with the evening's star being pianist Aleksandra Świgut, who will perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 2.
The symphonic season inauguration also marks a new chapter in the orchestra’s concert series titled "Stars with Sinfonietta," offering a fantastic opportunity to experience a full spectrum of musical emotions through the interpretations of both the orchestra and invited virtuosos. The soloist for the September concert, Dr. Aleksandra Świgut, is a faculty member at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, and a laureate of prestigious international competitions, including the Steinway Prizewinners Concert Network Award.
The concert will open with Landscape by Andrzej Panufnik—a symphonic landscape by the world-renowned Polish composer, arranged for string orchestra. The centerpiece of the program will be Ludwig van Beethoven’s brilliant Piano Concerto No. 2. The evening, showcasing music from three different eras, will conclude with Franz Schubert’s String Quartet No. 14 “Death and the Maiden”, this time in an arrangement for string orchestra by Gustav Mahler, highlighting the dramatic intensity and turbulence of the work.
