The Regional Museum in Krasnystaw invites you to the refectory on July 19, 2024 at 17.00 for the inauguration of the 130-year-old Steinway & Sons model D concert grand piano after major renovation. One of the world's most recognized pianists on period instruments, Tomasz Ritter, will perform a recital on this occasion. The substantive consultant of the project is Prof. Mariusz Dubaj, president of the Lublin Branch of the Polish Composers' Union.
The piano came to Krasnystaw in 1945 or 1946 and was bought by Maria Gładkowska from the County Department of Culture and the director of the Social Music Center. M. Karłowicz Ignacy Lipczyński from Red Army soldiers. Work on the general renovation took 41 years. In 2023, we managed to obtain funding from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in the amount of PLN 121,000, from the City of Krasnystaw PLN 15,000 and from the Krasnystaw County PLN 12,000. The renovation was carried out by Ryszard Mariański's Piano Studio from Śliwniki near Kalisz after obtaining a recommendation from representatives of Steinway & Sons in Poland.
We will hear the sound of this instrument for the first time thanks to the winner of the 1st International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments in Warsaw in 2018, a graduate of the Moscow Conservatory and the Hochschule für Music und Theater in Hamburg.
The concert will be accompanied by a presentation of films about the history of the instrument by Małgorzata Orłowska from TVP 3 Lublin (The Story of One Piano) and the Youth Film Discussion Club "Iluzjon" at the 2nd C.K. Norwid Secondary School in Krasnystaw. On this occasion, publications about the fate of the Krasnystaw Steinway and the history of Steinway & Sons have been prepared.
Tomasz Ritter's recital is recorded by TVP 3 Lublin and will be presented on TVP Kultura and TVP Polonia.
