Jerzy Bauer, born in 1936, has passed away. He was a composer and, since 1960, a professor at the Łódź Academy of Music. A full professor, Bauer initially engaged in sonorous experiments before turning to the compositional tradition of Bartók, Ravel, and Stravinsky, with a deep affinity for French Impressionism. These influences provided impulses for his own unique creative work.
He was a member of the Polish Composers' Union (ZKP) since 1966 and served as vice president of ZKP from 1989 to 1991.
We bid farewell to the late composer with sadness, extending our condolences to his son, the distinguished cellist Andrzej Bauer.
May he rest in peace.
