On June 21, 2025, the Silesian Philharmonic invites you to celebrate the 75th birthday of Julian Gembalski – one of Poland’s most outstanding organists, composers, and educators; a master of improvisation; professor at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice and its former rector (1996–2002).
At 4:30 PM, also in the chamber hall, the director will host a conversation with Julian Gembalski, who will share memories, reflections on the art of the organ, and stories from his musical journey.
The highlight of the day will be a recital by the Jubilant himself at 6:00 PM, featuring masterpieces of organ literature as well as his renowned improvisations. The program includes:
- Concerto in G major – Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach
- Concerto per l’Organo in C major – Joseph Haydn
- Adagio and Fugue in C minor – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
This evening will be a rare opportunity to experience the virtuosity of a living legend of Polish organ music, and to meet an artist whose work has inspired generations of Polish musicians.
