"KMPPLX live" at the Toy Piano Gallery

Information about the event | Wrocław | 12 June 2026

Ensemble Kompopolex will perform on June 12, 2026 at 7.00 pm at Wrocław's unique Toy Piano Gallery (46A/101 Ruska Street). The artists will interpret pieces by acclaimed contemporary female composers from Poland and abroad, featuring two premieres (one world premiere and one Polish premiere), as well as remastered versions of two pieces from the ensemble's repertoire.

Commissioned by Ensemble Kompopolex, Żaneta Rydzewska has composed a piece titled Hey, which features a strong participatory element that engages the audience. Drawing inspiration from the issues of online hate speech and the constant rating of musicians' performances and skills, the composer has mirrored a specific type of game in her music. Through this, audience members will be able to evaluate the performance of her piece on the fly and influence its course in real time.

In her piece Body X Ultra - FLOW, Marta Śniady focuses on electronic keyboard instruments (a synthesizer and two samplers), sonically referencing the golden age of repetitive 1960s electronic music. The music is accompanied by a unique, psychedelic music video.

The program will be completed by performances of Kelley Sheehan's inefficient sky and Katarina Gryvul's Chasm—this time featuring remastered and enhanced electronics and processing effects.

The concert is co-financed by the Municipality of Wrocław.

The commission of Żaneta Rydzewska's piece was co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage within the Culture Promotion Fund as part of the "Composers' Commissions" program, implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
