Just before the magical Kupala Night, when—according to Slavic beliefs—one can find the elusive fern flower and true love, a special concert titled "Love Songs" will take place on June 14, 2025, at 7:00 PM at Warsaw’s Hashtag Lab. The evening will feature world premieres that immerse the audience in a world of ritual, symbolism, and midsummer mystery, presented by Katarzyna Szwed and Paweł Janas.
Both artists composed new works especially for this event, inspired by customs and symbols associated with Kupala Night: Katarzyna Szwed will present her cycle Love Songs, while Paweł Janas will premiere When the Sun Bows Twice.
As curator Marta Piórkowska emphasizes: “For the second time, the Hashtag artists will take to the roof of their home and perform among the sounds of the city on unusual instruments: zither, dulcimer, portative organ, K-dron, and viola d’amore. They will be joined by soprano Anna Zawisza. And after the night always comes sunrise—led by the music of Terry Riley.”
The organizers invite the audience to the Hashtag Lab garden, where you can relax on deckchairs, sip refreshing lemonade, and listen to stories of love, told through music—at a time “when the sun bows twice.”
Hashtag Lab’s Contemporary Music Space is co-financed by the City of Warsaw.
