The traditional "Marshal's Concert" on the occasion of the National Independence Day will take place at the Stanisław Moniuszko Grand Theatre in Poznań on November 11, 2024, at 6:00 PM. This year, the music of Karol Szymanowski and Mieczysław Wajnberg will be performed.
The juxtaposition of Szymanowski's Stabat Mater, which guides us through the full range of emotions associated with death, with Wajnberg's Polish Melodies, imbued with optimism and joy, can be considered a musical allegory of the fate of the Polish state. In this context, the Roxana’s Song from Act II of Szymanowski's opera King Roger becomes a poignant prayer for peace.
The works will be performed by the Choir and Orchestra of the Grand Theatre, conducted by Jacek Kaspszyk, and soloists: Ruslana Koval, Gosha Kowalinska, and Mariusz Godlewski.
