"Meeting at the Composers'": Kornowicz & Mendyk

The special guest of the November edition of the "Meetings at Composers’" series at the Polish Composers' Union will be Jerzy Kornowicz. On November 29, 2024, at 6:00 PM, a meeting with him and the artists who will present his music will take place in the historic center of Warsaw, at 27 Old Town Market Square, hosted by Michał Mendyk. This is a perfect opportunity to personally meet the elite of the Warsaw music scene! Admission is free!

We will be joined by distinguished personalities, who need no introduction, but to highlight their important role in the European artistic world, we will remind you that composer, pianist, and improviser Jerzy Kornowicz has held the position of director of the "Warsaw Autumn" festival for almost a decade and president of the Creative Poland Association for over a decade. He previously served as president of the Polish Composers' Union (ZKP) for many years (2003–2015). Musicologist, editor, and producer Michał Mendyk is the founder of the Bôłt Records music label, co-founder of the contemporary music magazine Glissando, and a member of the program committees of several prestigious festivals, as well as a music expert at the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.

The musical part of the meeting, featuring renowned improvisers, will be a surprise even for the event's organizers!

We will also present the POLMIC Digital Archive, the first digital archive dedicated to contemporary Polish classical music. This archive showcases digitized library and archival materials from the Polish Composers' Union. The digitization and description of the materials were carried out by musicologist Dr. Agnieszka Cieślak-Krupa and art historian Filip Wróblewski. The website's design was created by the company Celerise.

The meeting will also be available online via this link: https://meet.google.com/qwg-qfms-iux

The event is organized as part of the project "Online Access to the Archival Materials of the Polish Composers' Union" within the "Digital Culture" program.

It is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund.
