Michał Zieliński was the co-founder, vocalist and artistic director of the early music ensemble Collegium Vocale Bydgoszcz. In the years 1992-2017, the ensemble gave over 300 concerts in Poland and abroad, recorded several radio and television broadcasts and 12 studio CD albums. For their debut album, Wacław z Szamotuł, Marcin Leopolita - Collegium Vocale (DUX), the ensemble received the "Fryderyk" award of the Polish Phonographic Academy in the "Album of the Year - Early Music" category (2001).
Zieliński's composition output was also dominated by choral works and works for vocal ensembles. He used early instruments in his chamber works (e.g. Na fraszki Jana z Czarnolasu - suite for vocal quartet, flauto traverso, 3 viola da gamba and lute).
He received a number of awards for his versatile activities: Award of the Marshal of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship "for creative presence, multiplying the beauty and richness of the musical life of the Region" (2010), Award of the Mayor of Bydgoszcz (2012), Individual Award of the 2nd degree of the Rector of the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz (2012 ), Medal of the Starosta of Bydgoszcz "For services to the district" (2014) and the Award of the Marshal of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship (2017).
May he rest in peace!
