On October 18, 2025, at 6:00 PM, a unique musical performance will take place at the Concert Hall of the Faculty of Music, University of Rzeszów – the world premiere of the musical fairy tale Music of a Thousand and One Nights by Dr. Dominik Lasota. This monumental work, inspired by the classic tales of One Thousand and One Nights, was created especially with the choral and academic community of Rzeszów in mind. The main organizer of the event is the Polish Association of Choirs and Orchestras – Rzeszów Branch, and its originator and artistic director is Anna Marek-Kamińska. Admission is free!
The performance will feature combined women’s choirs and the chamber orchestra Artensemble Resovia, as well as international choirs from the University of Lviv (Ukraine), the University of Prešov (Slovakia), and the University of Nyíregyháza (Hungary). The line-up will also include choral ensembles from Rzeszów and the Podkarpackie region, as well as students and pupils from local schools.
The event will be preceded by choral workshops on October 17, 2025, involving artists and educators from Poland, Ukraine, Slovakia, and Hungary. Their aim is to support the development of young conductors, foster integration among musical communities, and facilitate artistic exchange.
On the same day, October 18 at 9:30 AM, an author’s lecture by Dr. Dominik Lasota titled Between Myth and Modernity – On Creating a Musical Narrative in the Work "Music of a Thousand and One Nights" will take place at the Faculty of Music, University of Rzeszów. The lecture is open to the public.
The project supports the development of local ensembles in Rzeszów, promotes contemporary Polish music, and builds bridges between Polish and Central European cultures. All events are free of charge.
The co-organizers of the project are the Faculty of Music of the University of Rzeszów and the Student Scientific and Artistic Circle of Choral Conducting at the Faculty of Music, University of Rzeszów.
The event is held under the honorary patronage of the Mayor of Rzeszów, Konrad Fijołek, and the Rector of the University of Rzeszów, Prof. Adam Reich,
The project is co-financed by the City of Rzeszów from the budget as part of the public task titled "Music of a Thousand and One Nights – preparation of a musical spectacle featuring music by Dominik Lasota for large performing forces under the artistic direction of Anna Marek-Kamińska."
