As of September 1, 2025, Wojciech Rodek begins his five-year term as Director of the Jerzy Semkow Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra. The appointment was made by Marta Cienkowska, Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
Wojciech Rodek is a graduate of orchestral conducting from the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, as well as Slavic philology at the University of Wrocław. In 2020, he received his habilitation (postdoctoral degree) from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He currently teaches conducting at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław.
He has held numerous leadership positions in Poland’s musical institutions, including:
– Music Director of the Gliwice Musical Theatre (2010–2015)
– Artistic Director of the Lower Silesian Philharmonic (2014–2016)
– Artistic Director (2015–2018) and Artistic Advisor (2022–2023) of the Grand Theatre in Łódź
– Principal Conductor, Artistic and General Director of the Lublin Philharmonic (2010–2022)
Between 2023 and 2025, he conducted the Vienna Spring Sound Symphony during its concert tours in China. He also regularly conducts film music concerts organized by the German agency Highlight-Concerts.
In recognition of his achievements, Rodek received the Jan Kiepura Theatre Music Award for Best Conductor in 2011, the Gloria Artis Medal for Merit to Culture in 2015, and the Bronze Cross of Merit in 2021.
