Thanks to the next edition of the “New Gdańsk Sounds” series, on 19 November 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at the Corpus Christi Church in Gdańsk-Morena (9 Piecewska Street), the concert programme of the Gdańsk Branch of the Polish Composers’ Union will once again be presented as part of the Festival celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Polish Composers’ Union. Four concertante works were written especially for this occasion. Admission is free!
For the first time in Gdańsk, the following pieces will be performed: Skrzypissimo by Anna Pęcherzewska-Hadrych, Concerto for Clarinet and String Orchestra by Tadeusz Dixa, Materia nigra by Adam Diesner, and the Concerto for Organ and String Orchestra by Andrzej Dziadek.
Outstanding soloists will appear: flutist Rafał Jędrzejewski, organist Andrzej Szadejko, clarinetist Andrzej Wojciechowski, and accordionist Paweł Zagańczyk. They will be accompanied by a string orchestra conducted by Tadeusz Dixa. The concert will also feature compositions by Krzysztof Olczak, Piotr Jędrzejczyk, and Leszek Kułakowski from earlier periods, which are already well established in the concert repertoire.
Tadeusz Dixa’s Concerto for Viola and Chamber Orchestra was created as part of the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship’s Scholarship for Cultural Creators for 2025. In cooperation with the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk.
