Newest articles of the Section of Musicologists of the Polish Composers' Union available online

Polski Rocznik Muzykologiczny

Yearbooks published by the Section of Musicologists of the Polish Composers' Union have been released: "Polish Rocznik Muzykologiczny" 2022 – ‘Women and Music’ - and ‘Musicology Today’ 2022. Both are now available online: https://www.polskirocznikmuzykologiczny.pl/wydanenumery.php and https://sciendo.com/journal/MUSO.

The Polish Musical Yearbook is published in online and printed versions (PWM Kraków, the magazine can be ordered at the publishing house's online bookstore). The online version is also available on the scientific platform https://sciendo.com/journal/PRM. The 2022 yearbook contains 12 articles. The first two are published in English. These are texts by Annegret Fauser (USA) about Wanda Landowska and by Beata Bolesławska-Lewandowska about Nadia Boulanger in the light of the writings of Zygmunt Mycielski. The remaining articles were published in Polish (with English summaries). These are texts by Izabela Zymer about Zofia Lissa and Włodzimierz Iwannik, Anna Nowak about Hanna Kulenty, Iwona Świdnicka and Marta Dziewanowska-Pachowska - both about Lidia Zielińska, Barbara Literska about Katarzyna Kwiecińska-Długosz, and Joanna Schiller-Rydzewska about women in the musical culture of Gdańsk based on the collections of the local library of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Stefan Drajewski on Polish female ballet composers, Aleksandra Kleinrok on 19th-century Warsaw music salons, Tomasz Górny on Sara Levy, and - as a free topic - an in-depth study by Edward Boniecki on Karol Szymanowski's Litany.

Musicology Today

Musicology Today, the Section's all-English magazine, is published exclusively online on the Sciendo platform. The latest issue contains seven articles on various topics. Olena Beregova (Ukraine) writes about Myroslav Skoryk's opera Moses, Agnieszka Jeż looks at music education in Polish schools before World War II in the context of Polish-Jewish relations, Cindy Bylander (USA) introduces the concept of mass song discussed during a seminar in Nieborów in 1950, Beata Bolesławska-Lewandowska discusses Zygmunt Mycielski's latest works, Agnieszka Cieślak-Krupa presents a proposal to reconstruct the film soundtrack based on the materials preserved in Bronisław Mirski's archive, Sylwia Makomaska ​​presents the possibilities of using musicology in the therapy of people with oncological diseases, and Sławomira Żerańska-Kominek announces her polemics in discussion on the position of Philip E. Ewell published in 2020 on the use of Schenkerian analysis in today's musicology.
