"OBOElectronics" - first performances of Polish composers in Canada

From October 14 to 26, 2024, a series of recitals, masterclasses, and lectures by Polish oboist and composer Dr. Aleksandra Panasik will take place in Edmonton (The University of Alberta, The King's University), Camrose (Augustana College), and Lethbridge (The University of Lethbridge). The recital programs will include music for oboe and electronic media by Polish, Canadian, Mexican, and American composers, including world premieres.

The artist will premiere the piece ...saraba hana no sekai...saraba naki-sō..., written for her by Dr. Arlan Schultz from the University of Lethbridge's Faculty of Music. The project will also include North American premieres of works such as #2020… Scream for AleksandraP. by Aleksandra Bilińska, GRAleksandra II (Lo specchio della notte) by Piotr Grella-Możejko, and Origin, composed by Aleksandra Panasik herself.

Aleksandra Panasik graduated from the oboe class at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk. In 2021, she completed her doctoral studies at the same institution, under the guidance of renowned pedagogue Prof. Józef Raatz. She continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart, the Hochschule für Künste Bremen, and during the Darmstädter Ferienkurse. This will be Aleksandra Panasik's first North American concert tour, made possible thanks to the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Mazurka Music and Art Society, the Polish Culture Society in Edmonton, and the Polish-Canadian Society in Lethbridge.
