On June 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM, as well as on June 3 and 4 (at 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM), the Poznań Grand Theatre, on the occasion of Children’s Day, invites entire families to a chamber opera for children titled Blee by Jerzy Fryderyk Wojciechowski, with a libretto by Malina Prześluga, one of Poland’s most renowned playwrights. A colorful troupe of insect singers will present a work that is touching, funny, and an excellent introduction to the world of opera!
Among the characters, we will see a stingless wasp, a spider without legs, two not-so-clean cockroaches, and a plus-size pupa – all gifted with little self-confidence and ostracized by their community. Joining the group is the Queen’s Page – a revolutionary condemned for disbelief in the Queen. This character will spark an upheaval and lead each uncertain hero to discover their talent and gain belief in their own abilities.
Musically, this opera will also be close to a child’s imagination: it is a dialogue between contemporary operatic music and easily recognizable references to popular music. The chamber orchestra is conducted by a witty conductor who actively participates in the action.
