The Polish Composers’ Union has been honored with the Grand S3KTOR Award – a prestigious distinction granted by the City of Warsaw for overall achievement in the fields of culture and social engagement. The award was presented during a ceremonial gala held at the Służew Culture Center on June 24, 2025, and was accepted by the current President of the Polish Composers’ Union (ZKP), Beata Bolesławska-Lewandowska, and former President Mieczysław Kominek, who led the organization for the past ten years.
“This is a wonderful distinction, which we would not have received without the dedicated work of President Kominek and the previous Board, as well as without our festivals that are so deeply rooted in Warsaw’s cultural life – Warsaw Autumn and the Warsaw Music Encounters. I extend my heartfelt thanks and congratulations to Jerzy Kornowicz, Director of Warsaw Autumn, which has remained the most important festival organized by the Polish Composers’ Union since 1956 [...] and to Jarosław Siwiński, Director of the Warsaw Music Encounters. It is thanks to you and your work that we can all share in the joy of this award! [...] We are proud and sincerely thank the City of Warsaw for recognizing our contribution in such a meaningful way,” emphasized Beata Bolesławska-Lewandowska.
This year, 51 organizations were nominated for the Grand S3KTOR award, and the winner was selected by the Warsaw Public Benefit Council.
During the gala, the leadership of the Polish Composers’ Union received a certificate, a neon statuette, and a 20,000 PLN cash prize, which will support the future editions of the Union’s festivals in the capital.
In total, over 100 non-governmental organizations operating in Warsaw participated in the competition. Among the winners were:
– 1st Place: AVE Foundation
– 2nd Place: Polish Chess Federation
– 3rd Place: Center for Inclusive Arts
The Audience Award, funded by Warsaw Trams, was granted to Uwolnij Złomka Foundation and Dokładam Się Foundation.
