“What if…? We have an idea. Let’s play it,” proposed the Reedbeat ensemble, accepting the invitation from NIMiT to perform as part of the "Polish Music Scene" project at the Opole Philharmonic. On October 17, 2025, at 7:00 PM, Polish music will be presented in a fresh light and with new arrangements.
Reedbeat boldly reaches for works by Polish composers, giving them a completely new sound through entirely original arrangements for reed quintet.
Mieczysław Karłowicz’s Serenade Op. 2 will be heard in an arrangement by Maria Leszczyńska-Thieu, who emphasizes the lyrical qualities of the woodwind instruments. The arrangement of Grażyna Bacewicz’s Concerto for String Orchestra was undertaken by the young Polish composer and saxophonist Michał Leśniak, masterfully reflecting the full range of technical possibilities of contemporary wind instruments.
The neoclassical Triptych by Aleksander Tansman will also be performed in an arrangement by saxophonist and composer Wojciech Chałupka. The program would not be complete without Colas Breugnon — the suite in an old style for string orchestra with flute by Tadeusz Baird. The dance-like character, lightness, and grace of the French style, so close to all woodwind instruments, is brilliantly captured in the arrangement by Reedbeat’s clarinetist, Piotr Thieu Quang.
The concert will be accompanied by the flicker of a thousand candles, wrapping the hall in warm light and transforming it into a magical space of beauty, reflection, and creative passion.
The concert is co-organized by the National Institute of Music and Dance (NIMiT) as part of the "Polish Music Scene" program, funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
