The Polish pianist Ignacy Lisiecki, based in Japan, will perform a recital on April 3, 2025, at 7:00 PM, featuring works from the rarely performed but highly valuable contemporary piano repertoire. The artist will also present the Polish premiere of *Karatachi no Hana* by Marcel Chyrzyński.
The recital's program includes compositions united by a common theme: Japan. *Karatachi no Hana* by Marcel Chyrzyński, which has not been performed in Poland before, is inspired by the stunning flora of the Land of the Rising Sun, a country to which the artist himself is closely connected. The piece was composed at the request of the Yanagawa Shimin Bunka Kaikan concert hall in Japan. Yanagawa is the birthplace of the poet Hakushū Kitahara, whose most famous poem is *Karatachi no Hana* (The Flower of the Karatachi Orange). Japanese motifs will also be heard in *Spring and Asura* by Dai Fujikura.
During his recital, Lisiecki will perform works by Péter Eötvös, Oliver Knussen, Jörg Widmann, Leonard Bernstein, and will finish the concert with the sounds of *Ti studier* by Danish composer Hans Abrahamsen.
