A festive atmosphere will be set by a concert on 19 December 2025 at 7:00 PM at the Zielona Góra Philharmonic. Conducted by Paweł Kotla, the orchestra will perform works by Beniamin Baczewski, Rafał Kłoczko, Leroy Anderson, and Pyotr Tchaikovsky. The soloist will be clarinetist Andrzej Wojciechowski.
Beniamin Baczewski’s Concerto for Clarinet and Chamber Orchestra was composed in 2015 with Andrzej Wojciechowski in mind—a renowned virtuoso of the instrument, who requested a work that would present a true artistic challenge. It is therefore no coincidence that the composer chose the concerto form, which offers the soloist ample opportunity to demonstrate both technical mastery and interpretive depth. The work consists of four contrasting movements. Its sound world alludes to jazz music, with the second movement even making a direct reference as a tribute to the American jazz clarinetist Benny Goodman. The concerto blends perfectly with the other works of this holiday evening, creating an evocative atmosphere that complements the pre-Christmas season.
The program will also include the suite from Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker and Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride. After a visit to a magical, fairy-tale world, the evening will conclude with carols and seasonal wishes, brought together in the form of an orchestral Fantasy by the Director of the Zielona Góra Philharmonic, Rafał Kłoczko.
