The Art Mintaka Foundation invites you on November 11, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. to the Opera Hall of the New Campus of the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz for the transgressive premiere of the contemporary opera fairy tale Lustro (The Mirror) by Rafał Gorzycki, with a libretto by Małgorzata Sikorska-Miszczuk. Admission is free, but tickets are required.
The opera tells the story of a man—a scientist—who discovers a moving truth about the nature of the universe, and in doing so, an overwhelming truth about himself.
Thanks to the support of many institutions, funding from “KPO for Culture”, the Bydgoszcz – UNESCO City of Music program, and collaboration with the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, the opera—directed by Kamila Siwińska—will be performed by leading Polish artists: the New Music Orchestra and the Chamber Choir of the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, conducted by Szymon Bywalec.
The cast features sopranos Joanna Freszel and Dorota Nowak, actor Witold Szulc, baritone Paweł Piotrowski, guitarist Marek Malinowski, and saxophonist Mikołaj Sarad.
The electronic layer will be created by the composer himself, Rafał Gorzycki, and the spatial sound design will be crafted by Kamil Kęska.
