The album “Between Heaven and Earth” is the latest project of the organ and saxophone duo Hanna Dys & Szymon Zawodny, which is also the ensemble’s main theme. The premiere of the album, released by Requiem Records (Opus 106 | 2024), will take place on February 20, 2025.
The album contains various compositions mainly by Polish, as well as American and Austrian composers - originally written for saxophone and organ, as well as transcriptions of pieces for flute and piano or harpsichord and saxophone. In the varied stylistic repertoire - from post-romantic to modern pieces referring to jazz style - a special place is occupied by the latest compositions dedicated to the duo, created in 2024 by composers associated with the musical environment of Gdańsk and Warsaw.
The album contains the premiere recordings of Waiting for the Northern Lights by Anna Ignatowicz-Glińska, The Sky Is Blue and White by Anna Rocławska-Musiałczyk and Postcards from Poland by Szymon Zawodny.
