Premiere of the micro-opera by Aleksandra Chmielewska "The Sound Wizard" (Dźwiękoksiężnik)

The premiere of The Sound Wizard (Dźwiękoksiężnik), a micro-opera full of kindness and sensitivity by Aleksandra Chmielewska, directed by Ludmiła Dziasek, will take place on September 30, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Hashtag Lab – Contemporary Music Space in Warsaw. Additional performances will follow on October 1, 2, and 3.

The story follows the Sound Wizard, a magician who creates all kinds of sounds in his magical cauldron and takes pride in being able to conjure any sound imaginable. But when he receives a request for a potion of silence—perfect, uninterrupted, liquid silence—he finds that even for the master of all masters, some things may be impossible. His failure prompts his friends to embark on a journey in search of the ideal silence…

This opera, aimed at children aged 6 to 10, introduces young audiences to the world of contemporary music through a colorful narrative, a rich palette of sounds, and engaging theatrical expression.

Accompanying the vocal soloists are oboe, cello, piano, and electronics. A key element of the musical layer is the extensive use of extended instrumental and vocal techniques, reflecting the magical sounds crafted by the title character. The electronic soundscape is also rich in unconventional textures and forms an essential part of this sonic laboratory.
