Results of the AkoPoznań Composition Competition

On September 24, 2024, the Jury of the AkoPoznań Composition Competition convened and awarded two second prizes ex aequo, as well as two honorable mentions.

The jury, consisting of: Prof. Janusz Stalmierski, PhD (Chair), Prof. Jerzy Kaszuba, PhD, Prof. Monika Kędziora, PhD, Piotr Paszkiewicz, MA, and Grzegorz Uran, MA (Secretary), reviewed eight compositions submitted to the AkoPoznań Composition Competition for works for accordion orchestra, organized by the Department of Accordion and Contemporary Music Interpretation of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań and the Young Composers' Circle of the Polish Composers' Union.

The jury awarded the following composers:

  • two second prizes ex aequo, each worth 2000 PLN, for the works Ad Parnassus by Leonardo Rizzo and Nasłuchiwania by Kacper Jastrzębski;
  • two honorable mentions, each worth 1000 PLN, for the works Brzmienia wojny by Maria Savva and Suita kurpiowska by Michał Lipski.

No first nor third prizes were awarded. Additionally, the jury expressed hope that the works submitted to the competition will attract the interest of accordion orchestras in Poland and Europe.
