- | 31 May 2025

The Association of Polish Chamber Musicians invites you to the concert series "Reymont in the Estates of Subcarpathia" from May 31 to June 17, 2025, commemorating the work of Władysław Reymont on the centenary of his receiving the Nobel Prize for his novel Chłopi (The Peasants) in 1924 and just before the hundredth anniversary of his death in 1925.

The concerts, featuring renowned soloists and actors, combining literature, music, and art, will take place at historic estates in Subcarpathia: Dworek Hupki in Niwiska and Dworek Błotnickich in Dzikowiec. Admission is free!

On May 31, at Dworek Błotnickich in Dzikowiec, Professor Dorota Segda will read excerpts from Chłopi. Urszula Kryger (mezzo-soprano) and Grzegorz Mania (piano) will perform works by F. Chopin and W. Żeleński, enhancing the literary message with music in this unique setting, conducive to reflection on the legacy of the Nobel laureate.

On June 16, in Dzikowiec, Etnos Ensemble (Bartosz Pacan – clarinet, Konrad Merta – accordion, Piotr Gach – cello, Dawid Lewandowski – double bass, Przemysław Pacan – percussion instruments) will present original compositions inspired by folk music that Reymont might have heard. Their concert will be preceded by a lecture by Professor Maciej Urbanowski, a literary historian and critic, entitled Reymont - the Legacy of the Nobel Laureate.

The following day, a concert will take place at Dworek Hupki in Niwiska – School of Music I degree in Niwiska. Łukasz Stawarczyk from the Old Theatre in Kraków will read excerpts from The Promised Land and The Revolt, reflecting the social and economic changes of those times. The world-renowned Polish duo – Iwo Jedynecki (accordion) and Karolina Mikołajczyk (violin) – will perform works by I.J. Paderewski and F. Chopin.

The event is co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage within the framework of the National Centre for Culture's program "Reymont. Interventions".
