Information about the event | Katowice | 28 February 2025
Another winner of the Chopin Competition will perform with the Silesian Chamber Orchestra on February 28, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. This time, Italian pianist Leonora Armellini - a favorite of the 18th Frederic Chopin International Piano Competition - will perform Frederic Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2.
The evening will begin with Jan Wincenty Hawel's Moments, a piece with aleatoric elements, which the Silesian composer himself says is one of his favourite works. The Silesian Chamber Orchestra performed Moments during the jubilee concert of the composer, who also held the position of conductor of the ensemble for many years.
Romantic compositions will dominate the concert's repertoire: the second half will feature the melodic Serenade by 19th-century Czech composer Josef Suk and Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's String Symphony No. 2 from his cycle of twelve string symphonies.
