Monumental masterpieces from three centuries will captivate the audience at the concert on May 9, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the Silesian Philharmonic. The Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Jakub Chrenowicz, and at the piano will be the beloved South Korean pianist, winner of numerous international competitions—Hyuk Lee.
The concert will begin with the dramatic Overture to the Opera Tannhäuser by Richard Wagner, which will immerse us in the epic atmosphere of this monumental tale.
Next, we will hear the virtuosic Concerto Grosso by Bolesław Szabelski, the creator of the Silesian school of composition in the 20th century, blending modern sounds with baroque form. The piece is a challenge for the performers, requiring both technical proficiency and the ability to interpret complex musical structures.
The evening will be concluded with Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, "Emperor", one of the most significant works by Ludwig van Beethoven.
The concert is co-organized by the National Institute of Music and Dance as part of the "Musician-in-Residence" program, funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
