The Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Yaroslav Shemet, will perform works by Polish masters from the 19th and 20th centuries on April 4, 2025, at 7:00 PM. Violinist Jakub Staszel will appear as the soloist.
In his interpretation, the audience will hear Henryk Wieniawski's Violin Concerto No. 2, Op. 22 – one of the most important works in the violin repertoire.
Mieczysław Karłowicz's Eternal Songs, Op. 10 is a cycle of three symphonic poems that reflect deep melancholy and reflection on life and death: Pieśń o wiecznej tęsknocie (Song of Eternal Longing), Pieśń o miłości i śmierci (Song of Love and Death), and Pieśń o Wszechbycie (Song of the All-Being).
The concert will conclude with Grzegorz Fitelberg's Symphony No. 1 in E minor, Op. 16 – a monumental work that showcases his talent for creating complex orchestral structures.
The concert is co-organized by the National Institute of Music and Dance as part of the *Musician – Resident* program, funded by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
