2016 edition of the International Chamber Music Festival "Silesian Quartet and Its Guests" will be held between November 20 and December 3 at the Chamber Hall of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice.
The central theme of this year’s event that consists of 5 concerts is Elements. The programme features works by the composers of so-called "Generation ‘51" (Andrzej Krzanowski, Eugeniusz Knapik and Aleksander Lasoń), including premiere of String Quartet No. 5 by Lasoń, as well as chamber version of La création du monde by Darius Milhaud, String Quartet No. 4 by Philip Glass, Danse sacrée et danse profane by Claude Debussy, Piano Quintet by Alfred Schnittke, and compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn, Luigi Boccherini and Franz Schubert.
