The Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra invites you to a concert on March 8, 2025 at 7 pm at the Polish Radio Concert Studio, which on Women's Day highlights their role in the art of composition and interpretation. It will be conducted by South Korean-born Juya Shin, currently assistant conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra. And cellist Maria Leszczyńska will play as a soloist.
Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel's brilliant Overture in C Major - her only orchestral composition - will be performed first. We will also hear the very impressive Symphony No. 3 by the outstanding composer and violinist Grażyna Bacewicz. This monumental work is distinguished by a coherent construction of the form, combined with brilliant orchestration and a wealth of kaleidoscopically changing moods.
The outstanding cellist of the younger generation, Maria Leszczynska, who has delighted audiences in many countries with the subtlety and timbral beauty of her interpretations, will perform the famous Concerto in E minor by Edward Elgar. The artist is the winner of many competitions, including the 2nd prize of the 12th Witold Lutosławski International Cello Competition (2024), and her participation in the concert realizes the Sinfonia Iuventus director's award for the best Polish performer in the competition.
Financed by funds from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
The Competition is organized thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the ZAiKS Authors Association.
