“Songs for No-one” is a concert promoting Tomasz Raff’s new solo album, featuring world premiere recordings of all songs by Mieczysław Weinberg for bass voice and piano in Russian, titled "Weinberg: Songs for No-one"—but not only that.
The event also serves to promote young vocalists, students of the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, with whom Tomasz Raff collaborates as a teacher—mezzo-sopranos Wiktoria Rudnicka and Jagoda Staruch, and tenor Krzysztof Lorek.
The concert will take place on April 27, 2025, at 5:00 PM, in the Concert Hall of the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, located at Łąkowa 1–2 (Yellow Building). Admission is free!
The approach these young artists take to vocal lyricism is marked by freshness and interpretive courage—qualities whose development lies at the heart of Tomasz Raff’s teaching.
Thus, the audience will hear not only rarely performed examples of Mieczysław Weinberg’s vocal music, but also works by composers more widely known for their song repertoire, such as Franz Schubert and Richard Strauss.
The program will also include works by other Polish composers besides Weinberg: Stanisław Niewiadomski, Stanisław Moniuszko, Karol Szymanowski, and Edward Pałłasz.
The songs will be interpreted by the vocalists together with Anna Mikolon, a professor at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk and a pianist with many years of extensive experience in the field of vocal lyricism.
After the concert, there will be an opportunity to purchase CDs and speak with the artists.
