The concert “Sonnets and Psalms. The Liturgy of the Soul” by Camerata Silesia is an Advent meeting of poetic word and prayer, in which sound becomes a space of contemplation and music a form of spiritual dialogue. On 3 December 2025 at 6:00 p.m., at the Evangelical-Augsburg Parish of the Resurrection in Katowice, choral compositions by Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa and Paweł Łukaszewski will be performed for the first time under the direction of Anna Szostak. Admission is free!
At the heart of the event are two works. In Two Sonnets to Words by Rilke by Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa, mystical poetry and musical sensibility intertwine in a meditation on the human search for God. Paweł Łukaszewski’s Whispered Prayers is a supplication in which whisper becomes an act of faith.
Completing the programme will be Felix Mendelssohn’s Harre auf Gott—a hymn of trust and surrender—and organ improvisations performed by Daniel Strządała.
Funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund—a state-designated fund—under the “Composers’ Commissions” programme carried out by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
