On October 10, 2025, at 7:00 PM, as part of the "Strings Festival – Zielona Góra", outstanding young-generation violinists Amelia Maszońska and Jarosław Nadrzycki will perform. The Zielona Góra Philharmonic Orchestra – host of the festival – will be conducted by Daehwan Kim. The concert program will include works by Vivaldi and Piazzolla, as well as the world premiere of Vitis vinifera, an overture for two string orchestras by Ignacy Zalewski.
The piece Vitis vinifera was composed on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Zielona Góra Philharmonic. In the title, which means "common grapevine", composer Ignacy Zalewski refers to Zielona Góra's winemaking traditions – a tradition that, as the composer writes, "binds and co-creates the identity of the city and the region."
Next on the program is The Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi, celebrating in 2025 the 300th anniversary of its first publication and performance. Over 200 years later, in South America, Astor Piazzolla created his own Four Seasons: four tangos originally written for a quintet. The sequence Piazzolla assigned to his Estaciones Porteñas is: Otoño, Invierno, Primavera, and Verano.
We will hear them in Leonid Desyatnikov’s arrangement for solo violin and string orchestra. In each movement, Desyatnikov incorporated several quotes from Vivaldi’s work.
