The 17th Silesian Choral Song Festival "Magnificat"

On October 17, 2026, singers, conductors, and music lovers will gather for the 17th time at the Silesian Choral Song Festival "Magnificat". The event will take place in the exceptional spaces of the Basilica of Our Lady in Rudy. The program features choral workshops, the Stanisław Moniuszko Award ceremony of the Silesian Association of Choirs and Orchestras, and the world premieres of works by the winners of the 2nd Silesian Composers' Competition. Admission is free.

The Silesian Choral Song Festival "Magnificat" cultivates the tradition of amateur singing, integrates vocal ensembles, and promotes the work of Silesian composers. This year, the event will also be dedicated to the International Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The workshops for choirs will focus on the intriguing themes of emotions in music, collective singing as an intangible cultural heritage, and bringing the works of Silesian choral conductors back to the world.

Following the Holy Mass, which will also feature performance by the Beatitudo choir, a ceremony will be held to present the Stanisław Moniuszko Awards. Awarded by the Silesian Association of Choirs and Orchestras, these distinctions honor outstanding contributions to the community music movement and achievements in building lasting ethical values rooted in the beauty of song and the Silesian music-making tradition.

Afterward, the performing ensembles—including the recipients of the Stanisław Moniuszko Award and selected member choirs—will present works by Piotr Pudełko, commissioned especially for this occasion. The concert will also feature the world premieres of pieces by the winners of the 2nd Silesian Composers' Competition, an initiative aimed at inspiring Silesian composers to write new music, particularly pieces designed for performance by amateur vocal ensembles.
