The Fryderyk Chopin State Music School in Piła and the Institute of Composition and Music Theory of the I.J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań invite students of secondary music schools to participate in the 3rd National Composition Competition for School Miniatures. It creates a unique opportunity to try one's hand at creating original music, develop one's creative talent, and gain valuable artistic experience. Application deadline: April 30, 2026.
The subject of the competition is a composition in any musical style, written for an ensemble of 2 to 4 performers, selected from the following instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, violin, viola, cello, double bass, and piano. The use of unconventional sound production techniques, including instrument preparation, is permitted, provided that it does not pose a risk of damaging the instrument. Expected duration of the work: between 4 and 6 minutes.
Compositions submitted to the competition must be previously unpublished, unrecorded, and must not have received awards in any other composition competitions. Each participant may submit a maximum of two works.

Winners and honored participants will receive: a premiere performance of their composition during the prize-winners' concert at the Fryderyk Chopin State Music School in Piła, a performance of their composition during the prize-winners' concert at the I.J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, an audio recording of the awarded works, composition consultations with a selected composer from the Competition Jury.
