The Grand Theatre in Poznań invites you to the 2025/2026 Season!
Five premiere productions, festivals, special events, concert performances of operas, a presentation at the Berlin Philharmonic, exceptional artists, and further revivals — the new 2025/2026 season at the Stanisław Moniuszko Grand Theatre in Poznań will begin at the end of September. The 115-year history of the Grand Theatre in Poznań serves as a pretext for creative exploration — in the jubilee season's repertoire, audiences will undoubtedly find inspiration to discover the worlds of opera and ballet.
The Grand Theatre’s jubilee season will open with the 3rd edition of the Moniuszko Festival. From 27 September to 8 November, alongside works by the patron of the Poznań stage, the festival will feature music by Zygmunt Noskowski and Karol Szymanowski. Highlights include the premiere of The Countess (Hrabina) on 10 October 2025, concert performances of the operas The Verdict and King Roger, a children’s project titled najnajNOSKOWSKI, a recital by Zuzanna Nalewajek and Michał Biel, as well as an interdisciplinary event titled "Speaking Concert".
Following The Countess, the season continues with the world premiere of Dorian Gray on 23 November 2025, composed by Elżbieta Sikora as part of the "Composers’ Commissions" program, run by the National Institute of Music and Dance. Jacek Kaspszyk will conduct.
The next premiere of the season will be Karol Szymanowski’s King Roger — for the first time ever staged at the Grand Theatre under the Pegasus — on 24 April 2026. Krzysztof Cicheński will direct, and once again, Jacek Kaspszyk will lead the soloists, chorus, and orchestra of the Grand Theatre in Poznań.
The upcoming season will also include a premiere aimed at the youngest audiences. Children will be invited to take part in the project Stories for Winds (Historie na dęte), directed by Jerzy Moszkowicz and conducted by Andrei Yakushau, on 4 December 2025.
Audiences will also enjoy performances by the ballet company of the Grand Theatre in Poznań, in productions featuring music by Polish composers and choreography by Robert Bondara, Daniela Cardim, Edward Clug, and Krzysztof Pastor. The ballet repertoire will be enriched in June with a premiere choreographed by a guest artist from abroad.
Under the wings of Pegasus, Faust will return (revival in February 2026), alongside titles such as The Barber of Seville, Turandot, La Traviata, Rigoletto, The Magic Flute, Fiddler on the Roof, and Die Fledermaus. The season will also feature special events, including a New Year's Eve concert, New Year’s concerts, and Christmas carol sing-alongs. Young audiences will be invited to musical meetings within the series Little Orchestra of the Grand Theatre and BUM!TRACH!BACH!.
In the theatre’s more intimate spaces, soloists and ensembles will present concerts such as "This Time Without Arias", "notBLUE RHAPSODY", and "Faces of Carmen".
A highlight of the upcoming season will be a concert at the renowned Berlin Philharmonic. This will mark the fourth presentation of the Grand Theatre ensemble in Poznań as part of a concert series dedicated to Polish music. This time, German audiences will hear a concert performance of King Roger by Karol Szymanowski, on 12 November 2025. Szymon Mechliński will perform the title role, and the concert will be conducted by Maestro Jacek Kaspszyk.
