From romantic lyricism to profound reflection on the human condition – the program of the symphonic concert "Eternal Songs" at the Opole Philharmonic on April 4, 2025, at 7:00 PM, features works that showcase the virtuosity and power of the orchestra conducted by Jakub Chrenowicz. The soloist for the evening will be trombonist Dr. Wojciech Jeliński, a lecturer at the Poznań Academy of Music.
In his interpretation, we will hear Concertino for Trombone in E-flat Major, Op. 4* by Ferdinand David – one of the most important works in the trombone repertoire, highlighting the full technical and tonal potential of the instrument.
The second part of the concert will be dedicated to Polish music. The Overture to the Opera Paria by Stanisław Moniuszko, arranged by Grzegorz Fitelberg, will be performed. This lesser-known but highly impressive composition, with its oriental color, serves as an introduction to the composer's final stage work, addressing the struggle against social injustice and caste divisions in India. The evening's culmination will be the Eternal Songs*, Op. 10 by Mieczysław Karłowicz – a masterpiece of Polish modernism.
