The world premiere of Daria Kuziak's first Lemko opera "Holos"

The world premiere of Daria Kuziak's first Lemko opera Holos to a libretto by Pawel Blokh will take place at the National Forum of Music in Wroclaw on November 24, 2024 at 4:00 pm.

Daria Kuziak, a graduate in composition studies with Prof. Grazyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, is a Lemko by origin. Her chamber opera for two solo voices, Lemko band, chamber orchestra and electronics is a synthesis of contemporary music and folk music, and the first work of its kind in the world. Thanks to a grant from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the staging of the opera has been made possible.

The stage will feature the 27-member Leopoldinum Orchestra of the National Forum of Music, conducted by Jakub Przybyciel, as well as outstanding white-voiced singers: Justyna Bluj and Aleksandra Michniewicz. Dance group of the Lemko Song and Dance Ensemble “Kyczera” will take part in the concert as well as dance actors of Rozbark Theater from Bytom, prepared by choreographer Anna Piotrowska. The show is directed by Oksana Terefenko, while Monika Ika Wójcik is working on the stage design.
