For the eighth time, world-renowned Polish artists Agata Zubel and Michał Moc are inviting young Polish composers (up to the age of 35) to take part in the program “Artistic Residencies in Iceland.” The idea behind the project is to offer young creators two weeks of unique inspiration — composing in the silence of a fjord, at the remote edge of northern Iceland. The application deadline is July 1, 2025.
Agata Zubel and Michał Moc will organize a residency for two selected participants, taking place between October 4 and 20, in an Icelandic house adapted for compositional work. The house is located on the 66th parallel, in the Westfjords, just below the Arctic Circle.
The program covers flight, local transport, accommodation, and a stipend to support basic living expenses.
After the residency, the residents' music will also attract the attention of the program's partners. The Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR) will host a meeting with the participants, and the Spółdzielnia Muzyczna contemporary ensemble has announced a commission and performance of a new composition by one or both of the Icelandic residents.
