As part of the 26th edition of the Łódź Philharmonic’s Wandering Festival “Colors of Poland,” the world premiere of Reymont Suite by Krzysztof Falkowski will take place on August 9, 2025, at 8:00 PM at the Folk Homestead in Lipce Reymontowskie (10 Wiatraczna Street). The piece was composed especially for this year’s edition of Colors of Poland.
A unique encounter is in store — a celebration of the Year of Reymont through culture, folklore, and heritage, right in the heart of the Reymontian countryside.
The Reymont Suite was inspired by three of the author’s novels that have been adapted into films: The Promised Land, The Comedienne, and The Peasants.
“The suite refers to these works mainly through its themes and dramaturgy,” explains the composer. “The key motifs of The Promised Land are capitalism and the relentless pursuit of success, but also questions of morality and dreams. This part of the piece emphasizes cinematic expression, brutalism, and strong rhythms.
The section devoted to The Comedienne features lighter music, filled with calm and reflection. In The Peasants, I incorporate neofolk with a heavy use of electronics and bold contrasts. Just like in the novel, moods of love, sadness, and reflection are interwoven with carefree joy and dance.”
The suite will be premiered by the Falkowski Orchestra under the composer’s baton, together with the folk band CHRUST.
The evening will conclude with a folk dance party featuring the Folk Band from Polesie.
Accompanying events will include a painting exhibition titled "Indigo and Friends – A Reymontian Landscape", guided tours of the Folk Homestead and the Władysław Reymont Regional Museum in Lipce Reymontowskie, as well as a folk art and handicraft fair.
