On September 10–17, 2022, the 14th International Festival ‘Music on the Heights’ will take place in Zakopane. Many great musical experiences await the audience throughout the week. The repertoire will maintain a perfect balance between the music of bygone eras and the art of our times.
We will recall the works of genius artists associated with Zakopane - Mieczysław Karłowicz, Karol Szymanowski and Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, but also string trios by Schubert, Wajnberg, Maciejewski and Krzysztof Penderecki, the artist who was a festival guest in 2018.
There will also be popular works by baroque masters or accents related to the Year of Polish Romanticism. Among the festival performers there will be a number of new names, headed by the charismatic soprano Katarzyna Hołysz, who will present, among others, songs by Polish and Russian composers inspired by Adam Mickiewicz's Ballades and Romance. Well-known musicians will also perform at the Festival: violinist Piotr Pławner, cellist Rafał Kwiatkowski, violist Katarzyna Budnik, Cracow Clarinet Quartet, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki String Quartet or the Whoop Group, saxophone quartet, which evokes great enthusiasm of the audience.
Co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the culture promotion fund as part of the ‘Music programme implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
