"My time will yet come" is the title of an extraordinary symphonic concert that will take place in the Church of St. Holy Spirit in Zielona Góra on the 13th of October, 2023 at 7.30 p.m. The event programme will include two compositions: a masterpiece of symphonic literature, Gustav Mahler's First Symphony, and a work that will be played for the first time that evening - the symphonic poem The Prophet by Bassem Akiki.
The work, consisting of six parts, was composed as part of the “Composer's Commissions” programme implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance. The source of inspiration for the composer was text The Prophet by Lebanese writer and poet Khalil Gibran. It is no accident that this work was chosen. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the publication of Gibran's masterpiece, which has been compared to Niestzsche's Zarathustra.
The Zielona Góra Philharmonic will be led by Bassem Akiki himself, the music director of the Wrocław Opera.
