110 Years of the Łódź Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra: World Premiere of "De arte, de homine" by Zygmunt Krauze

On February 17, 2025, exactly 110 years will have passed since the first concert of the Łódź Symphony Orchestra, the predecessor of the Łódź Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, held at the now-defunct building of the Grand Theatre in Konstantynowska Street. A special gift for the Łódź Philharmonic on this symbolic anniversary will be the world premiere of a work by Zygmunt Krauze, composed specifically for this occasion, which will take place on February 14, 2025, at 7:00 PM.

De arte, de homine references the figure of Władysław Strzemiński, the creator of Unism – a particular form of abstraction in painting that Krauze translated into music. The composer emphasizes that this composition directly refers to "my Łódź experiences and inspirations. In the first part, I present the magnificent, visionary idea of Władysław Strzemiński's unistic art, and in the second part, I focus on his life – awful, dramatic, full of pain, conflicts, and difficulties. The contrasts will shape this piece." This syncretism of the arts will be visible at the Philharmonic, as the composition will be accompanied by video visualizations prepared by Piotr Bosacki, a versatile artist working at the intersection of music, visual arts, animation, and literature.

Piotr Paleczny, one of Poland's most prominent pianists, will perform Mozart's Piano Concerto in D minor during this special evening.

At 6:15 PM, a pre-concert meeting will be held in the Henryk Czyż Chamber Hall, led by Piotr Matwiejczuk.
